Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is vested with the responsibility of Maintenance and
Development of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. It is also responsible in conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.
The Regional Manager TANROADS Coast on behalf of the Chief Executive TANROADS is looking for qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant posts available for one (1) project of UPGRADING OF UTETE – NYAMWAGE (33.7KM) TO BITUMEN STANDARD CONTRACT NO: TRD/HQ/1036/2022/23 Therefore, TANROADS intends to recruit qualified and competent staff to fill vacant posts onbspecified employment contract for the road project in the following field:-
✅POSITION TITLE: HIGHWAY ENGINEERS – 2 POSTS
Entry Qualifications:
Must be a Tanzanian Citizen who is a holder of Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution. Must be registered with ERB as Professional Engineer and have a current practicing license. Postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering will be an added advantage.
Must have a cumulative working experience of at least seven (7) years in road construction designs and/or supervision. Must have served as the Highway Engineer or equivalent capacity in at least two (2) road and bridges construction projects of similar nature and magnitude in the last 10 years. Proficiency in written and spokennSwahili and English is mandatory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- To supervise conformity of contract conditions and specifications;
- To review existing design and identify any shortfalls and advise to the Resident Engineer
appropriately during the construction period; - To control geometric design conformity in the construction works, with considerations of
best practice depending on site conditions; - To inspect completed works in order to ensure compliance with technical specification requirements;
- To prepare control charts of the main activities and a project master schedule, indicating
both past performance and forecasts for completion including time involved in each case; - To measure quantities of works satisfactorily carried out;
- To prepare and submit detailed progress report with updated cost of the civil works to the
Resident Engineer; and - To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager (PM)
✅TOPOGRAPHICAL SURVEYOR (1 POST)
The Topographical Surveyor shall be fully responsible for conducting and supervising the survey team. He/ She will be responsible for planning of the fieldwork, select knows survey reference
points, and determine the precise location of important features in the survey area. He/She shall be responsible for searching legal records, look for evidence of previous references survey points (geodetic reference points and national benchmarks) and analyses the data to determine the location of boundary lines and record the results of the results of the survey, verify the accuracy of data, and prepare plans, maps and reports.
He/She must possess a minimum of Diploma in Land Surveying. She/He must be a registered land surveyor. She/He must have eight (8) years specific experience in road design and construction.She/He must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) road construction projects of similar magnitude and complexity with the last 10 years. In addition, He/ She must have a working experience of at least 3 years in Sub – Sahara countries. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

Entry Qualification:
Holders of Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution. Must be registered with ERB as Professional Engineer and have a current practicing certificate. Post graduate qualification in Civil Engineering will be an added advantage.
Must have a cumulative working experience of at least ten (10) years in road and bridges construction designs, supervision and contract management/administration under
FIDIC Conditions of Contract. Must have served as the Resident Engineer or equivalent capacity in at least three (3) road construction projects of similar nature in the last 10 years. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shall head the site staff and shall be responsible for all technical and
administrative aspects on site; - To supervise the Contractor at site and force account operations;
- To manage work plans for the project;
- To manage quality control;
- To manage project contracts;
- To prepare monthly progress reports for project;
- To process contractor invoices and facilitates payments;
- To prepare and attend regular site meetings and prepare minutes;
- To monitor implementation of Social and Environmental Impact mitigation measures during the construction of the works in consultation with the Environmental Specialist of TANROADS.
- Keeping updated all records including reports, works diaries, correspondences, instructions given to contractor(s), test records, measurement and quantity
calculations, payment records and all other relevant documents pertaining to the works operations and supervision contracts; and - To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager (PM)
✅POSITION TITTLE: CAD TECHNICIAN – 1 POSTS
Key Entry Qualifications:
Must be a Tanzanian Citizen who is a holder of Diploma in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Land Surveying or equivalent from a recognized Institutions with working experience of at least five (5) years in related field. He/she must have Certificate in CAD
training.
Duties and Responsibility:
- To prepare drawings and sketches in collaboration with other staff related to road or bridge design; and
- Liaise with Highway Engineer for sketches or drawings improvements on road/bridge design.
- Successful applicants must be ready to work for considerable lengths of time in Coast Region where projects are located.
